Nationally known education researcher Rick Stiggins

It was a pleasure to meet with Rick as he discussed his latest book Give Our Students the Gift of Confidence.  It describes how our schools can foster student self-confidence, self-awareness of own progress, and optimism for their future. The role of assessment in this is clear: the over-use of commercially bought standardized testing often numbs students with failure. Other assessments can do the opposite. Parents and teachers must talk back to the current system and stop the harm to kids.
